Geothermal heat systems rely upon heat exchange with the earth. In order to accomplish the heat exchange, two basic systems are available: closed loop and open loop.
Closed Loop
The more practical solution, available to almost every site, is a closed-loop vertical system. A closed loop vertical system relies upon multiple wells drilled to approximately 200 feet with a closed-loop tube “radiator” inserted into each vertical hole. The holes are then filled with sand and clay. Water is pumped through the tubes, providing a heat exchange with the earth.
Open Loop
The open-loop system relies upon a well from which water is pumped through the heating system and then discharged into a second well. This open-loop system requires a significant quantity of water which is not always present on each residence or business site.
The efficiency of a properly installed closed-loop vertical system can equal that of an open-loop system without the need for such a large water supply.
In order to install the vertical tubes that extract the energy from the earth, Geo Energy uses the best equipment with the smallest footprint, thus causing the least amount of disturbance to the property where the geothermal system is being installed.

The final phase of the geothermal experience is the equipment necessary to deliver the energy into your home. Geo Energy uses and installs this as well — geothermal heat pumps and the ductwork that releases the comfort into your living space. We use heat pumps with multi-speed fans and compressors designed to further enhance the energy savings.
